Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello Asserts Readiness to Confront EFCC Charges in Federal High Court
The former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello declares his readiness to address the 19-count charge leveled against him by the EFCC in the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Despite his absence during the arraignment, his legal team represented him in court on Tuesday. Adeola Adedipe, SAN, a member of his legal counsel, informed the court about Bello’s willingness to attend the proceedings personally, citing concerns about a potential arrest order looming over him.
Adedipe, SAN, emphasized to the court the need to revoke the previously issued ex parte arrest order against the former governor. He contended that at the time of the order, the charges had not been officially served to Bello, as required by legal protocols.
Only during the Tuesday session did the court authorize the service of charges to the defendant through his lawyer. “The defendant is eager to appear in court, but is hesitant due to the looming arrest order,” Adedipe, SAN, reiterated.
