Edo State: INEC Pledges Smooth and Transparent Guber Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reiterated its commitment to conducting a smooth and transparent governorship election in Edo State. Specifically, during the formal induction of 10 new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Lagos, INEC National Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, assured the public that the commission remains dedicated to ensuring a credible and inclusive electoral process. Furthermore, Prof. Yakubu’s statement addressed recent challenges faced by the commission, including significant flooding in Edo State.

“Although we had an unfortunate flooding in our office in Edo State, over 4,000 machines were affected,” Prof. Yakubu stated. “But we deployed our technical staff immediately and have already recovered over 3,500 machines. We will call for additional support from neighboring states, so in terms of machines, rest assured that we have enough. We will recover from Edo, and rest assured that we won’t suffer any encumbrances at all.”
