Manslaughter of Schoolgirl in London
In a tragic case that shook the community, a 17-year-old boy has admitted to the manslaughter of 15-year-old Elianne Andam, who was fatally stabbed while walking to school in Croydon, south London, last year. The incident occurred in September near a bus stop close to the Whitgift shopping centre during the morning rush hour.

The teenage defendant, whose identity remains protected due to his age, appeared via videolink at the Old Bailey in central London on Thursday morning. Although he pleaded not guilty to murder, he admitted to the charge of manslaughter. However, the plea was not accepted by prosecutors, and a trial has been scheduled to take place at the same court starting from November 25.

Additionally, the boy denied the charge of possessing a blade in a public place, which will also be addressed during the upcoming trial.

Following the incident, police swiftly responded to the scene on Wellesley Road within two minutes. Tragically, Elianne, who had sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 9:20 a.m.

Elianne, a student at the Old Palace of John Whitgift School, was attacked with a foot-long knife, leaving the community devastated by the senseless loss. In the days following her death, her family expressed their grief, describing her as the “light of their lives.” They remembered her as a bright and funny young girl cherished by her many friends, and they highlighted her aspirations and dreams for the future that were tragically cut short.

As the trial approaches, the community stands united in seeking justice for Elianne Andam and in supporting her grieving family.

The outcome of the trial will ultimately rest with the jury, who will carefully consider the evidence presented before reaching a verdict. The proceedings are expected to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding Elianne’s tragic death and provide closure for her family and the community affected by this heartbreaking incident.
