Controversy and Contradiction: Nigerian Prophet Claims Divine Mercy After Failed Rapture Prophecy, Igniting Online Debates
In a surprising turn of events, the world did not come to an abrupt end on Thursday, April 25, as predicted by Nigerian preacher, Prophet Metuh. According to the self-proclaimed prophet, God showed mercy and decided to grant humanity more time to live, and he attributes this divine intervention to the 21-day fasting and prayer conducted by him and his followers.
Prophet Metuh, who had previously claimed to have received two revelations from God about the imminent end of the world on April 25, now clarifies the reason behind the failed prophecy. In a statement shared on his social media page, @prophetmetu, on Saturday, April 27, he explained that their dedicated period of fasting and prayer had averted the anticipated rapture.
“The Lord Showed Us Mercy,” the man of God expressed, emphasizing the effectiveness of their 21-day spiritual journey. “After our intense fasting and prayer, He heard our pleas and granted us more time to live. Prayer works,” he added, accompanied by the hashtags #rapture2024 and #rapture.
However, not everyone was convinced by Prophet Metuh’s explanation. Nigerians took to social media to express their thoughts on the failed rapture prophecy. Some users, such as @chukwu_io, humorously remarked that the world had moved beyond the Old Testament, while playfully suggesting that the prophet enjoy the wealth of tech entrepreneur Elon Musk. Others, like @OfficialBigkay, questioned the legitimacy of Metuh’s pastoral certification and playfully suggested that he pursue a career in acting instead. The reactions varied, with @AdventurousAlec expressing astonishment at the prophet’s audacity, comparing him to a fraudulent individual.
Despite the mixed responses, Prophet Metuh remains steadfast in his belief that prayer played a crucial role in averting the apocalyptic event. As the world continues to navigate uncertain times, this failed prophecy serves as a reminder of the complexity and diversity of religious interpretations and beliefs.
Many prophets and prophecies in Nigeria don’t know who to believe again. Rapture will come when nobody knows even the Bible said so. Let the will of God be done on earth.
