In a recent incident at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, originating from Port Harcourt, an Air Peace plane made an emergency landing at Lagos Airport. The pilots of the aircraft took swift action after noticing a fire warning indicator in the cockpit, prompting them to initiate the emergency landing procedure. With 243 passengers and 12 crew members on board, the aircraft successfully touched down at 4:45 pm on Runway18L.
Upon landing, the pilots promptly shut down the engines as smoke was reportedly observed on the engines by the fire fighting personnel present. This precautionary measure ensured the safety of everyone on board.
The aircraft in question was identified by its call sign, APK7193, and it was later confirmed that the fire warning detected in the cockpit was a false alarm. Air Peace released a statement titled “Notification of false fire alarm on Port Harcourt-Lagos flight” to address the incident.

According to the statement, a few minutes before landing, the Captain noticed the fire warning indicator and initiated the necessary safety protocols. Fortunately, the fire indicator ceased shortly after, prompting the Captain to inform the Operations Control Centre in Lagos at 17:37 hrs.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that there was no actual fire event, and the alarm had been triggered falsely. The aircraft also landed safely, and all passengers disembarked without any complications. Air Peace emphasized its unwavering commitment to passenger safety, reaffirming that safety remains their top priority.

Good job to the pilot and it’s crew members, it’s also a good thing they took the necessary safety precautions, whether false or not, since everybody on board is safe,there is no cause for alarm.
But they should always check the engines before taking off to ensure everything is in order.
