Bishop Owusu, during his sermon, voiced his surprise and frustration at the massive turnout, accusing Ghanaians of showing more support to foreign pastors than their own. He lamented the undervaluation of Ghanaian pastors and claimed that Nigerians would not reciprocate the same level of support if a Ghanaian pastor were to hold a crusade in Nigeria.

Furthermore, the video capturing Bishop Owusu’s remarks has since gone viral on social media, eliciting a wide range of reactions. Many users expressed outrage at the pastor’s statement, criticizing him for undermining the unity and solidarity among Christian communities in Ghana.

However, the controversy has sparked a heated debate about the role of foreign pastors in Ghana’s religious landscape and the perceived preference for international figures over local clergy. Some argue that the presence of foreign pastors brings diversity and different perspectives, while others contend that it undermines the local church and diminishes the influence of Ghanaian religious leaders.

As discussions unfold online, the issue has highlighted the complexities surrounding religious dynamics and the ongoing struggle to strike a balance between supporting local pastors and embracing international figures. Allowing disunity to live with us as Africans/Christian is however not the best as it only shows how divided we are, which gives our enemies an edge over us.
