Illegal Arms Manufacturing: Soldiers Arrest Parents, Son
Illegal Arms Manufacturing… Asaba, Delta State – The Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade in Asaba, Delta State, has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal arms manufacturing. The army recently arrested a 22-year-old man, Mr. Eboka, along with his parents in Onicha Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state, for their alleged involvement in the illicit trade.
Brigadier-General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, the commander of the 63 Brigade, informed the press about the operation, revealing that the discovered factory had the capacity to produce 10 guns per week. The military personnel uncovered the facility located in a forest, leading to the arrest of eight suspects, including Mr. Eboka’s father, mother, and sister.
Brig.-Gen. Unachukwu emphasized that the activities of these suspects have significantly contributed to the prevailing insecurity in the region and the country as a whole.
The commander further explained, “This man is modifying an AK-47 magazine to carry 60 rounds, whereas a normal AK-47 magazine carries 30 rounds. Anyone involved in acts of insurgency that undermine the peace and stability of Nigeria will be apprehended.”
During the operation, the army seized various equipment used in the manufacturing of IEDs, including shrapnels, detonators, and a container. The recovery of these items underscores the seriousness of the illegal arms manufacturing operation and its potential threat to national security.
The Nigerian Army remains committed to combating insurgency and securing the nation. The arrest of the suspects and the dismantling of their arms manufacturing facility is a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to address the proliferation of illegal weapons in the country.
