In An Unexpected Turn: Picture of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Peterside Atedo

In the wake of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Access Holdings CEO Herbert Wigwe, his wife, son, and others in the United States in February, a solemn funeral was held in Rivers state. Prominent Nigerian entrepreneur Atedo Peterside has voiced his dismay over Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s remarks at this poignant event. In a detailed account shared on his X page, Peterside revealed that Akpabio, in an unexpected turn, began his address by expressing dissatisfaction that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, received a more favorable reception than himself.

Moreover, Peterside’s discontent is exacerbated by Akpabio’s subsequent call for the audience to join him in consoling the widow, who lay in one of the three caskets before them. The founder of Anap Foundation criticized what he perceived as insensitive remarks, labeling them self-centered and inappropriate for a solemn combined funeral. Additionally, this criticism adds to a growing wave of disapproval directed at Akpabio, including prior warnings to abandon any potential attempts to forcefully seize control of Akwa-Ibom state in 2027.

This development was reported by Reporters in Nigeria. Reporters highlights Peterside’s condemnation of Akpabio’s comments and emphasizes the broader context of the funeral proceedings in an unexpected turn.
