The Nigerian Air Force Opens Portal For Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) 2024; Read All You Need To Know Now

The Nigerian Air Force is inviting both civilians and current military personnel to apply for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC), which provides a pathway to become an officer for degree holders in specific fields. Successful applicants will undergo a 6-month intensive military training and, upon completion, will be commissioned as Flying Officers.

Before you apply, here are the essential criteria and requirements for the Nigerian Airforce Direct Short Service Commission:

  1. Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by origin and birth.
  2. Age requirements are 20 to 30 years as of 15 December 2024, with an extension to 25 – 40 years for Medical Consultants. You must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years by 15 December, 2024 (25 – 40 years for Medical Consultants). That is, if you were born before 15 December 1994, you are not eligible; and for candidates in the Medical areas of specialization , you must not be born before 15 December, 1984.
  3. Current Serving Personnel seeking Branch Commission are not eligible to apply.
  4. Height requirements are a minimum of 1.66m for males and 1.63m for females.
  5. Applicants must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit and meet the Nigerian Air Force’s standards.

Additionally, you will need to have the following:

A Local Government Area Attestation Form signed by a military officer of your State of Origin of at least Wing Commander rank in the Nigerian Air Force or equivalent in other arm of service, an Assistant Commissioner of Police or higher, a Local Government Chairman/Secretary, a Magistrate, or Principals of Secondary Schools you attended. This form must include a passport photograph and a photocopy of the signee.

Prepare to present two recent passport size photographs to be stamped and countersigned by officer of appropriate rank mentioned above.

You must have your original and photocopy of birth certificate or Declaration of Age ready.

Your Original and photocopy educational/professional Certificates must be intact as well as you apply.

Original and photocopy of Indigeneship certificate from applicant’s Local Government/State of Origin.

An Original and photocopy of Attestation to Good Character duly signed by Officer of appropriate rank as mentioned above.

Please bear in mind that, you shall be disqualified from the Selection Exercise if suspected to have impersonated or submitted false document(s) and any false declaration detected later while in training, may lead to withdrawal from training. Such applicants are handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution. The Nigerian Air Force will not entertain any enquiries in respect of applicants whose applications have been rejected.

On completion of your application form, remember that you must print out the following documents: Acknowledgment Form, Parent/Guardians Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form.
