Zurak, Plateau State – In a shocking incident on Sunday, at least seven individuals lost their lives when suspected bandits launched a brazen attack on an evening market in Zurak, Wase Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred during the bustling trading hours, also left several others injured, as confirmed by residents of the community.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants arrived at the market in the early evening, swarming the area on motorcycles. Without warning, they opened fire on unsuspecting traders and customers, causing chaos and panic. The gunmen swiftly carried out their attack and managed to flee the scene without encountering any resistance.
Mr. Abdullahi Hussaini, a resident of the area, recounted the harrowing events. “The gunmen arrived in large numbers on motorcycles and began shooting indiscriminately. Seven people were killed instantly, and numerous others sustained injuries,” he said.
Following the attack, the gunmen disappeared into the nearby bushes. However, local law enforcement promptly responded by deploying personnel to the community to restore order and investigate the incident. Concerned residents are now urging authorities to increase security presence in the area, expressing fears of further violence.
