Bobrisky Behind Bars: Cross-Dresser Jailed for Six Months Over Naira Abuse
Cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, found himself facing the gavel of Justice Abimbola Awogboro at the Federal High Court in Lagos. In a verdict delivered this morning, April 12, Bobrisky received a stern sentence of six months behind bars, with no option for a fine.
This judgment stems from Bobrisky’s recent legal entanglement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Initially arraigned on April 5th on six counts, including accusations of Abuse of the Naira and Money laundering, Bobrisky saw the latter charge dismissed by the court. However, his confession to the former offense sealed his fate, leading to the conviction on Naira Abuse.
Prior to today’s ruling, Bobrisky experienced a brief stint in EFCC detention in Lagos, as ordered by the court. The legal proceedings encountered a slight delay, as the judge had slated April 9 for the judgment announcement. Nevertheless, due to the public holiday for Eid-Fitri spanning from April 9 to April 11, the court was unable to convene as scheduled.
The saga surrounding Bobrisky’s legal ordeal highlights the gravity of financial misconduct and underscores the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the sanctity of the nation’s currency. As the controversial figure begins his incarceration, the implications of his actions reverberate throughout both the legal and societal realms leading to the final verdict as Bobrisky received a stern sentence of six months behind bars.
