Notorious Drug Kingpins Receive Life Sentences for International Cocaine Trafficking with Assistance from the NDLEA
Uwaezuoke Ikenna Christian and Agbo Chidike Prince, two notorious drug kingpins has been sentenced to jail for life, effectively bringing an end to their extensive criminal network involved in the illicit exportation of cocaine across continents. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) played a pivotal role in their arrest and subsequent prosecution, as confirmed in an official statement released by Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media & Advocacy, on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
The first arrest transpired on March 19, 2022, when NDLEA operatives apprehended 43-year-old businessman Uwaezuoke at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. He was en route via an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Further investigation revealed that Uwaezuoke had concealed 2.243 kilograms of cocaine by ingesting 100 large wraps of the illicit substance.
Despite this initial setback, Uwaezuoke’s criminal activities persisted. On August 1, 2023, he was once again apprehended by NDLEA operatives, this time at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos. In a daring attempt to export 1.822 kilograms of cocaine to India, he resorted to ingesting the contraband using an alternate passport and assuming a different identity, Ilonzeh Kingsley Onyebuchi.
However, thanks to the relentless efforts of the NDLEA, Uwaezuoke and his accomplice, Agbo Chidike Prince, have now been brought to justice as the two notorious drug kingpins has been sentenced to jail for life. Their imprisonment serves as a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and sends a strong message to criminal syndicates involved in the illegal drug trade.
