In a move that signals further financial adjustments within the entertainment industry, the powerhouse behind DStv and GOtv, Multichoice Nigeria has announced increase of subscription fees. This decision, slated to take effect from May 1, 2024, marks the second such adjustment in just a span of five months, following a previous alteration in subscription rates.

The company attributes this latest hike to the relentless rise in operational expenses, a challenge it faces amidst an ever-evolving market landscape. Despite the inevitability of this decision, Multichoice Nigeria has made it clear that maintaining service quality and content diversity remains at the forefront of its mission.

In a statement released to its subscribers on Wednesday, April 24, Multichoice Nigeria expressed empathy towards the potential impact on its valued customers, acknowledging the difficulty that such price adjustments may pose. However, it reassured subscribers of its unwavering commitment to delivering unparalleled entertainment experiences, promising to continue providing high-quality content and exceptional service standards.

The adjusted pricing structure, set to come into effect on May 1, 2024, encompasses revisions across all DStv and GOtv packages. For DStv subscribers, the new rates include Premium at N37,000, Compact Plus at N25,000, Compact at N15,700, Confam at N9,300, Yanga at N5,100, and Padi at N3,600, among others. Meanwhile, GOtv subscribers will face revised rates for Supa+ at N15,700, Supa at N9,600, Max at N7,200, Jolli at N4,850, Jinja at N3,300, and Smallie at N1,575.

This latest adjustment underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Multichoice Nigeria in balancing operational costs with subscriber expectations. However, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to providing an enriched viewing experience for its audience, leveraging its extensive content portfolio and technological innovations to uphold its position as a leading provider of entertainment solutions in Nigeria’s dynamic media landscape.
