The latest report from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) reveals that Ajosepo, maintains its dominance at box office. The comedy-drama directed by Kayode Kasum, has retained its top position, amassing an impressive ₦51.9 million in its debut week alone. Transitioning into its second week, the film has continued to captivate audiences, accumulating a total of ₦79 million in earnings.

Ajosepo offers a compelling narrative centered around the lives of Dapo and Tani, portrayed by Mike Afolarin and Tomike Adeoye respectively, as they navigate the intricacies of love and family dynamics in the midst of wedding preparations. However, the idyllic atmosphere soon gives way to chaos as buried secrets and familial tensions unravel, threatening to disrupt the joyous occasion. Notable performances by Timini Egbuson, Yemi Solade, and Ronke Oshodi Oke further enrich the cinematic experience.

In the competitive landscape of Nigerian cinema, Hollywood’s The New Empire claims the second spot, raking in ₦34.6 million in the previous week, bringing its total earnings to an impressive ₦180 million. Meanwhile, the Yoruba epic film, Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju), which garnered ₦101.2 million in its opening weekend, slips to third place with a weekly gross of ₦34.2 million, accumulating a total of ₦217.2 million thus far.

Further down the rankings, Saving Onome, directed by Dimeji Ajibola, resonates with audiences, depicting the heartfelt journey of parents caring for their chronically ill daughter. The film secures the seventh position, earning ₦8.9 million in the previous week.

Additionally, Nollywood productions such as All is Fair in Love, Insecure, and Meeting Funmi’s Parents make notable appearances on the chart, contributing to the vibrant tapestry of Nigerian cinema. With diverse genres and captivating storylines, these films continue to captivate audiences nationwide, reaffirming the enduring popularity of homegrown cinema.
