The 2024 May/June WASSCE timetable has been released by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), providing a comprehensive roadmap for candidates across the region.

The examination, slated to commence on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, marks the beginning of a critical period for students as they prepare to demonstrate their academic prowess in various subjects. With the release of the timetable, candidates can now meticulously plan their study schedules and focus areas.

According to the official communication disseminated via WAEC’s Twitter handle, @waecnigeria, the examination journey kicks off with practical sessions for Foods and Nutrition 3 and Home Management 3 on the aforementioned date. This hands-on approach sets the tone for the rigorous assessments ahead.

Transitioning into mid-May, candidates will face the English Language examination on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. This pivotal assessment encompasses Essay, Objective, and Test of Orals components, challenging students’ language proficiency and communication skills.

As the month progresses, Thursday, May 30, 2024, emerges as a significant date on the timetable, earmarked for General Mathematics/Core Mathematics examinations in both Essay and Objective formats. This section tests candidates’ mathematical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.

Continuing the academic journey, Tuesday, June 4, 2024, is designated for Economics examinations, featuring Essay and Objective components. This subject delves into economic principles, policies, and their real-world applications, providing students with a holistic understanding of economic dynamics.

However, amidst the academic rigor, WAEC has incorporated a brief respite for candidates. From Monday, June 17, 2024, to Wednesday, June 19, 2024, a hiatus is observed to coincide with the Eid-al-Adha public holiday. This interlude offers students an opportunity to rejuvenate before tackling the remaining examinations.

In a commendable display of inclusivity, WAEC has underscored its commitment to accommodating special needs candidates. Those with visual, auditory, or speech impairments will benefit from an extended examination time of one and a half times the standard duration, ensuring equitable access to the assessment process.

Moreover, WAEC shared encouraging statistics regarding the performance of candidates in the recently concluded Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates, 2024–First Series. Notably, 30% of participants achieved credits in five subjects, including English and Mathematics, signaling an upward trajectory in academic achievement compared to previous years.

The unveiling of the detailed timetable not only delineates the examination schedule but also symbolizes WAEC’s dedication to promoting academic excellence and fostering an inclusive educational environment. As candidates gear up for the challenges ahead, they embark on a journey of growth, learning, and achievement, guided by the roadmap laid out by WAEC.
