In response to widespread rumors, the Nigerian Army denies allegation of recruiting Ex-Boko Haram(s). The refutation comes in the wake of a viral report suggesting otherwise, clarified in a statement released on Sunday by its spokesman, Onyema Nwachuckwu.

Amidst this controversy, a tragic incident unfolded on Thursday, where Hauwakulu Tabra was reportedly slain by Adamu Muhammad, a soldier with whom she was romantically involved, within the confines of an army barracks in Enugu. Subsequent reports over the weekend suggested that Muhammad, the alleged perpetrator, was a former Boko Haram member who had purportedly transitioned into the Nigerian Army in 2021 after joining the Civilian Joint Task Force.

However, the Army’s statement dismissed these assertions, expressing profound regret over Tabra’s untimely demise while vehemently rejecting the notion that the perpetrator was a reformed Boko Haram affiliate enlisted into their ranks. The Army extended condolences to the bereaved family and underscored its steadfast commitment to never incorporating repentant Boko Haram members, dismissing such insinuations as baseless.

Emphasizing its recruitment criteria, the Army highlighted that while it refrains from enlisting repentant Boko Haram insurgents, it acknowledges the valor and dedication of certain members of the Civilian Joint Task Force who have demonstrated unwavering commitment and patriotism in the fight against terrorism.

Elucidating the timeline of events surrounding Tabra’s tragic death, the Army’s statement revealed that preliminary investigations indicated Muhammad as the perpetrator, currently detained pending further inquiry into the motives behind his reprehensible actions.

Assuring the public of accountability, the Army pledged to uphold justice and discipline within its ranks, asserting a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of unprofessional conduct or misconduct.

In the midst of heightened scrutiny and public concern, the Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mission to safeguard the nation’s security while upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

  1. The Nigerian Army should lookout for those person’s who parade themselves as Army personnel especially those former boko haram members cause they are tarnishing their image. This so called person should be found and dealt with seriously especially for ending the life of someone else.
