The well-known businessman and internet personality, Cubana Chief Priest has been granted bail after facing the judiciary’s scrutiny as he appeared in the Federal High Court in Lagos State. The celebrity barman, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, found himself entangled in legal proceedings surrounding allegations of tampering and abusing the Nigerian currency, the naira, during a social gathering at the prestigious Eko Hotel in Lagos.

Represented by the adept legal counsel of Mr. Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, Cubana Chief Priest vehemently denied the charges leveled against him. On the other side stood Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari, appearing on behalf of the prosecution, aiming to substantiate the allegations.

As the legal drama unfolded before Justice Kehinde Ogundare, the defence counsel strategically raised a preliminary objection, challenging the jurisdiction of the court. Simultaneously, a well-prepared bail application was submitted on behalf of the defendant, met with no opposition from the prosecution.

With his health condition brought into focus, Cubana Chief Priest’s legal team stressed his struggles with palpitations exacerbated by his weight. They further emphasized his clean record, devoid of any prior criminal infractions, while also highlighting his pivotal role as an employer supporting the livelihoods of over 1000 individuals.

In a tense courtroom atmosphere, the prosecutor deferred the decision on bail to the discernment of the court, leaving the fate of Cubana Chief Priest hanging in the balance.

Ultimately, after meticulous consideration of the arguments presented, the court rendered its decision. Cubana Chief Priest was granted bail, albeit with stringent conditions, requiring a sum of N10 million and two sureties of equal standing to secure his release.
